Dear WSU community,

We are pleased to report that last week the Board of Regents concluded finalist interviews for the next president of Washington State University. We are now entering the next phase of the search process — making a selection.

Since our interviews last week, the Regents have been reflecting on each of the finalist’s responses, experiences, and qualifications. At our regularly scheduled meeting this week, Board members will share their thoughts with the intended outcome of selecting a preferred candidate. If the Board coalesces around a finalist during the Board meeting, we hope to authorize contract negotiations with that individual. An announcement of the preferred candidate would occur sometime thereafter when the Board will be asked to approve a proposed final contract. The public will receive notice of any meeting the Board has to approve a negotiated contract.

As we near the end of this search, the Board of Regents would like to reiterate our appreciation to the over 1,000 faculty, staff, students, and community members who provided input to develop our presidential leadership profile. Your thoughtful input directly informed our recruiting materials, guided our conversations with candidates, and, ultimately, helped shape our vision for the characteristics and experience needed in our next WSU leader.

Thank you again for your contributions to this search. We are excited to introduce you to the 12th President of Washington State University.

Go Cougs,
